Summer break is a great time to enjoy longer days and often more laidback schedules. After all, what feels better than an entire afternoon spent soaking in the pool, exploring a nearby park, or heading out on a marvelous adventure? Vacation time is often about letting go of the pressure to finally finish checking items off that seemingly unending to-do list. It is certainly a time for much-needed relaxation and rejuvenation. However, that doesn’t mean time off from work or worries should be an excuse to neglect your dental hygiene. Skipping out on regular preventive dental care greatly increases your likelihood of developing dental cavities and other oral health concerns. So even though you may be looking forward to a laidback summer break, don’t let that be an excuse to become lax in your oral care.
1. Dental Hygiene Is Always Key
Whether you’re at home or on the road, brushing your teeth after meals and flossing at least once a day is crucial to keeping your teeth and gums clean and healthy. Don’t skip out on dental hygiene, just because your schedule has changed.
2. Schedule Dental Checkups Over Summer Break
The longer days of summer, and long breaks for the kids, often make it easier than ever to schedule your whole family’s routine dental checkups and cleanings. These appointments are imperative for removing any calcified tartar buildup, and also to check for burgeoning threats, like cavities. So if it has been more than six months since your last exam and cleaning, schedule one now.
